I'm not your typical baking blogger. I'm a 27-year-old chemical engineer who lives in Chicago. But I ❤ baking!
I've been baking cookies, brownies, cakes, etc. since I was a little girl. But I really started finding my love for the pastry arts during my senior year of college. I came back from winter break (probably watching too much Ace of Cakes) and decided that I was going to learn how to decorate cakes. Since then I have made several cakes for fun, one for a competition, and others just for practice.
I thought that was it for me in pastries, cake decorating. But I have since discovered that I not only like eating various other pastries, but I also enjoy making them. That's why I decided to make this blog, to document my successes and failures of learning the art of pastry making.

All of the photographs of my work are either taken by myself on my small Casio digital camera or my new iPhone (the camera's better on my phone than my actual digital camera...how sad is that?) or by my adoring husband, David, on one of his Nikon cameras -- a D700 or another one that I can't remember, but which is nicknamed Nicky :)
